A paddleboarder’s paradise awaits in the placid and meandering Nestucca River. The Nestucca River makes a big horseshoe bend at Pacific City, where it widens into Nestucca Bay and empties into the Pacific Ocean. The quiet banks offer great local wildlife and bird watching, with preserved land along the bay and high grassy bluffs.
Check out these tips to guarantee a fantastic day afloat:
Get geared up at this locally owned and operated marina shop where you can rent kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and Hobie (pedal) kayaks. The friendly and knowledgeable crew will help launch you straight from their dock. They also welcome kids of all ages, and your four-legged friends, too!
You can access the waterways from the Little Nestucca Boat Ramp on Media Loop Road in Pacific City.
After a day of paddling, head to the Oar House Bar & Grill for some bites and brews in a relaxed and casual setting. The menu has something for everyone – burgers, fish tacos, pasta, even a crab boil (served after 3pm). Enjoy an order of spicy wings paired with a crisp draft beer or hard cider. Or make an evening of it, and head to Pelican Brewing Company for sunset views and elevated pub fare.
