For the past 31 years people from every corner of the world have come to Newport, Oregon in honor of two very important dietary staples: seafood and wine. Every February on the Oregon Coast, The Annual Seafood and Wine Festival is celebrated by thousands who come to sample a variety of Northwest cuisine and some of our finest wine.
With Oregon’s lush terrain and optimal environmental conditions, local winemakers are able to harvest some of the best grapes used to make wine in the nation. With the Northwest’s expansive wine offering it is no surprise that this event has such a long running history. Panel judges taste and grade wine based on their expert palettes, which have been determined by their proven experience in the food and wine industry. Many who attend the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival experience new bouquets and are educated on what to look for in the wines that they love.
As for the food, well, that is a treat all its own. Dozens of vendors bring thousands of samples for festival attendees to sample. Although the festival is known as the “Seafood and Wine Festival”, there are more than crab cakes to be enjoyed here. There are plenty of northwest inspired choices, as well as several other regional selections. Enjoy feasting on these delectable snacks while sipping new wines and making notes for future reference.
