Whale Watching Wonders

Each winter, the Oregon Coast becomes one of the best places to witness the majestic migration of gray whales. This natural spectacle peaks around mid-December to mid-January, as these giants travel south to the warmer waters of Baja California. King Tides: The Ocean’s Power Display

The King Tides, the highest tides of the year, occur during the winter months on the Oregon Coast. These tides are best observed from November to January and provide a stunning display of the ocean’s power as they swell over rocks and up onto beaches more than at any other time. Locations like Cannon Beach and Lincoln City offer dramatic views of these tides, which not only create breathtaking scenes but also help scientists and planners understand and prepare for rising sea levels.
