We have compiled our own list of the destinations we feel you’ll most enjoy based on our own experiences and interactions with guests. So without further ado, here are our best places to stay on the Oregon Coast!
Lincoln City
Lincoln City is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Oregon Coast. It offers miles of beautiful coastline that is perfect for whale watching, beach combing, tide pooling, and more.
It also offers a wide range of attractions which include some big-time tourist spots like Devil’s Lake and the Chinook Winds Casino Resort. For our full list of attractions in Lincoln City, be sure to check out our post on the best things to do in Lincoln City, Oregon.
Seaside
Seaside was one of the country’s first popular resort towns. The development of the first luxury hotel in Seaside began in the early 1870s and soon other attractions began to arise. It has been one of the Northwest’s leading tourist towns ever since.
The town also has another unique historical significance you won’t find in the other places to stay on the Oregon Coast. Seaside was the final stop in the 18-month cross-country expedition of Lewis and Clark, which ultimately played a major role in the town’s development as a resort town.
You’ll find plenty of things to do during a trip to Seaside including attractions like the Seaside Promenade and the Lewis & Clark Salt Works. Be sure to check out our post on the best things to do in Seaside, Oregon for our best suggestions on things you need to experience while in town.
Newport
Newport is one of the larger coastal towns on this list and is home to some of the best beaches and state parks on the Oregon Coast. Newport also boasts more than 80 restaurants and one of the country’s top-rated aquariums.
There is certainly no shortage of things to do in Newport, and it is easily one of our favorite places to stay on the Oregon Coast. For a full list of all the attractions we love in Newport, you can check out our post on the best things to do in Newport, Oregon.
Depoe Bay
The small village of Depoe Bay isn’t as packed with tourist attractions as the three towns we’ve already mentioned, but it’s still a great place to visit, especially for those looking to stay somewhere away from the hustle and bustle while visiting the Oregon Coast.
One thing you’ll want to check out is the famous Depoe Bay harbor. It is the smallest operating harbor in the world! There are also several fishing charters and whale watching excursions available to book that are always a great option for those making a trip to Depoe Bay.
Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach is a peaceful town that offers seven miles of quiet, sandy beaches. Outdoor activities such as golf, hiking, and fishing are the go-to things to do for tourists who visit Rockaway Beach.
The town provides beautiful views along the Pacific coastline including Twin Rocks which sets the scene in the background. This serene area is a must-see for anyone who wants to truly experience the uniqueness of the Oregon Coast’s beaches.
Seal Rock
If you’re looking for uncrowded beaches and undeveloped natural scenery, Seal Rock might just be the place for you. Seal Rock is most commonly known for the vast quantity of seals that call the area home, however, there are quite a few different types of wildlife that call Seal Rock home.
There aren’t a ton of tourist attractions in Seal Rock, but there are some quaint shops, galleries, and restaurants you’ll certainly want to check out. You’ll also be only a fifteen minute drive to Newport, so you can easily head over and experience all of the exciting things it has to offer.
Gleneden Beach
Gleneden Beach is a small area just north of Lincoln City that offers some pretty incredible ocean views. The Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site should be on the top of your bucket list if you choose to stay here or any of the nearby destinations, as it provides some of the most scenic views around.
It’s also just a few minute drive to the Salishan Spa and Golf Resort, which offers more than enough to do to fill your schedule for the week.
Neskowin
Neskowin is a small village north of Lincoln City and is best known for being the home to “Proposal Rock”, one of the most popular locations for couples to get engaged on the West Coast. It is certainly a sight to see even if you aren’t planning on popping the question on your trip.
There are two popular golf courses in Neskowin, making it one of the best options if you’re looking to hit the links on your trip. It is also a great option for hikers as it boasts quite a few trailheads including the Cascade Head Trail which ends with a breathtaking 1200ft-high view overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
